COURSE SYNOPSIS:
Learn and shoot in our two day lighting workshop that will prepare you to create striking portraiture! We cover everything you need to know to set up your own portrait shoots and execute them successfully. We will discuss equipment choice while learning how to use soft boxes, LED panels, lighting set-ups, posing, basic studio lighting techniques with different styles. Bring your camera and get ready for hands-on instruction! This is a beginning course.
Ninety-three percent of all communication happens in non-verbal cues…which is other than the text, or the words that are spoken. Most dentists are already utilizing clinical photos to help diagnose and treatment plan many cosmetic cases. Then they turn around and use these same images for their marketing. These clinical photos are to be used for educating the patient and documenting cases. They are not meant to be used for marketing. Since many people buy through emotion and not logic, portrait photography is the best way to expose your patient’s emotional side of the brain. Remember, glamour images evoke emotion, creates desire…Emotion sells.
At this workshop, we will cover how you can set yourself apart from other “family and cosmetic dentists’ through the use of portrait/glamour photography. Make sure you bring your camera and memory cards so you can participate. Also if you want a current head-shot image, make sure you dress appropriately so you can come away with a glamour photo of your own to use for your marketing. We will have participants pose as well as take pictures of each so you can experience both sides of the camera.
In the second part of this 3 day course Dr. David Chan will have the participants take part in a live hands-on demonstration how to shape and finish anterior composite restorations that virtually rivals porcelain.
“Contour is King”: This part of the course provides the participants with many priceless pearls to predictably shape and polish anterior composite restorations to the level that they can rival the beauty of the most esthetic porcelain restorations every single time.
A common challenge for most dentists is the ability to shape anterior composite restorations whether they are direct composite veneers, class IV or class III restorations to the degree that they so beautifully blend into the remaining dentition and thereby become one.
Dr. Chan will discuss and demonstrate in detail the predictable techniques to develop the primary, secondary, tertiary tooth anatomy in composite restorations for any tooth shape imaginable utilizing a few simple tools and seamlessly polish those restorations within a few minutes.
In this course, the participants will learn and witness in front of their very own eyes how simple it is to recreate natural tooth morphology and finish anterior composites to conservatively and aesthetically restore natural teeth.
Classes are limited in size so everyone can leave feeling competent that they can set up a studio at their office. Also the smaller number of participants will allow everyone to be constantly active and shooting different models to practice this amazing new skill!

Dr. Bernie B. Villadiego graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1989 and went on to complete a general practice residency program at the Los Angeles Çounty/USC Medical Center. He established a private practice with an emphasis in esthetic and reconstructive dentistry in Chatsworth, California in 1993. An accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Villadiego has completed continuums at the Spear Dental Education, Stewart Center, and Esthetic Professionals in Tarzana. He is a former clinical instructor and visiting faculty member with the Spear Institute at Scottsdale Center for Dentistry and lectures on photography at Stewart Center in Dallas, Esthetic Professionals in Tarzana, CA and DQS (Dental Quantum Singularity) programs in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After taking these courses, he found difficulty conveying to his patients that he performs cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. Not until he started utilizing portrait photography in his dental practice that case acceptance to cosmetic procedures increased. An avid landscape and portrait photographer, Dr. Villadiego has lectured and instructed in the use of glamour photography at several past AACD annual meetings.
